Charu 2 copy.jpg

CharuLekha

I come from a now non-existing matrilineal community from south India which traces its connection back to a particular kind of goddess tradition that regards the body, blood, earth and spirit as sacred and connected. I have a Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication, and a diploma in Indian art and music, then shifted tracks to volunteering with NGOs and later worked at a heritage museum that looked to preserve and promote the dying wisdom traditions of India, with a particular focus on the south Indian culture. I found myself shifting from charged activism to sacred activism, which for me is returning to a way of life and being that is rooted in stillness and ease, and enables a flow of rest and play as a way to honor the body and spirit of my own self, my ancestors and our earth. A lot of this shift also came through exploring a range of healing modalities including pranic healing, reiki, breathwork, herbal medicine, womb healing, yoga, vedic chanting, animism, drumming, writing, Jungian psychology, shadow work, singing, ritual dance to name a few.
